/pulsecheck

Ping a quiet Discord channel to wake it up

/pulsecheck add watches a channel. When nobody has written there for as long as you choose, Sigil posts your message and can ping a role. It speaks once per quiet stretch and only in the hours you allow, so it never nags.

What it does

  • Choose how long a channel must be quiet: 2h, 90m, 1d or 2h30m, from 30 minutes up to 7 days.
  • It posts once per quiet stretch: after it has spoken it waits until somebody writes and the channel goes quiet again.
  • It only posts in the hours you set (09:00 to 23:00 unless you say otherwise) on your server's clock, and counts the quiet from when those hours begin.
  • Pick one role to ping. A Pulse Check can never ping @everyone or a person.
  • /pulsecheck list, /pulsecheck pause and /pulsecheck edit look after your checks, and the dashboard has a Pulse Check tab with a live preview.

Set it up

  1. Add Sigil to your server and run /setup.
  2. Run /pulsecheck add quiet:2h in the channel to watch. Add message and ping to choose what it says and who it wakes.
  3. Set your server's time zone once with /schedule timezone so the hours are on your clock.

Good to know

  • Only messages from people count as chat. Bots, and Sigil's own message, do not.
  • A server can have up to 5 Pulse Checks, one per channel (the free plan has 1).
  • After Sigil restarts, each watched channel starts counting its quiet time again from that moment.
  • For a message at a fixed time, /schedule is the one to use.

Commands

  • /pulsecheck add|edit|list|remove|pause|resume for people who manage the server

Every command, with what it does and what it needs, is in the guide.
