Icebreakers, truth or dare and confessions

Questions for a slow night, a daily icebreaker on autopilot, your own prompts, and anonymous confessions.

2 min read · Updated 4 October 2026

For the nights when nobody knows what to say. They all draw from a shared bank of prompts, plus any your server adds.

Icebreakers and truth or dare

  • /icebreaker posts a random icebreaker question in the channel.
  • /truthordare choice posts a random truth or a random dare, depending on what you pick.

Both draw from Sigil's own list plus anything your server's admins added with /promptadd.

A daily icebreaker

/icebreakerauto times (for people who manage the server) posts an icebreaker question on its own, once or twice a day, picked the same way /icebreaker picks one.

  • times:Off turns it off.
  • channel is required the first time you turn it on, and can be changed later.
  • ping is an optional role to mention alongside the question, for example a "chat revive" role.

Your own prompts

/promptadd kind (for people who manage the server) opens a short box to type in your own question for /icebreaker, /truthordare or /confess. It stays local to your server, and is removed if Sigil ever leaves.

Confessions

/confess lets members post something anonymously in your server's confession channel.

  1. An admin opts the server in: /setup confess:#confessions. Confessions stay off until a channel is chosen.
  2. A member runs /confess. A box opens, blank by default, to write in their own words. prompt:True fills it with a random idea from the bank instead, if they are stuck. They can change it to anything.
  3. It is posted in the confession channel with no name attached. Only the writer sees the confirmation.

Nothing on Discord ever shows who wrote a confession.

Anonymous posts still have to follow your server's rules and Discord's. If someone breaks them, moderators can remove the post like any other.
