Going-live alerts
Post in a channel when a Twitch, YouTube or Kick channel goes live, with its title, game and picture, and a role pinged if you like.
Going-live alerts are part of Server Supporter. On the Going live page of the dashboard you choose a channel on Twitch, YouTube or Kick, a Discord channel to post in and, if you like, one role to ping. When that channel goes live, Sigil posts a card there with the stream's title, what it is playing and its picture.
Add an alert
- Open Going live on your server's dashboard.
- Choose the site and type the channel's name or address:
twitch.tv/name,kick.com/name, or for YouTubeyoutube.com/@nameoryoutube.com/channel/UC…. - Choose the Discord channel to post in. Sigil needs to see it, send messages and embed links there.
- Optionally pick a role to ping (it has to be set to mentionable in Discord) and write your own words.
- Press Add the alert.
Sigil looks the channel up the first time it checks. If there is no such channel, the alert says so, and the Overview tab lists it.
Your own words
Leave the words empty for the standard line (🔴 Name is live on Twitch!), or write your own. These are filled in for you:
{name}is the streamer's name,{platform}the site,{title}the stream's title and{game}what it is playing.{url}is the address of the stream.
The title, game and picture are always in the card under your words.
How it works
- Sigil asks each site every minute or so whether the public channel is live, and uses only what is public about the broadcast. Nothing about the people watching, or about anyone in your server, is asked for.
- A stream is announced once. The next stream is announced when it starts.
- An alert only announces streams that begin after you add it, so adding one for somebody who has been live for hours says nothing.
- If Sigil was offline when a stream began, it announces it when it is back, unless it began more than three hours ago.
- Up to 10 alerts per server. A server that moves off Server Supporter keeps its alerts, which wait (nothing is posted) until the plan is back.
What Sigil keeps
The channel you chose, where to post, the role and words, and the id of the last stream announced so it is never announced twice. Everything is deleted when Sigil leaves your server.
