Privacy and safety

What Sigil keeps, who can see it, how to switch things off and how to report a problem.

2 min read · Updated 4 October 2026

The full, authoritative list of what Sigil keeps is the Privacy page. This page is the short version, with the controls you have.

What is public

  • Your profile is public to anyone with the link. Search engines are asked not to list it.
  • What is on your profile is what /profile, /vibe and quote cards show. They never show more than the profile does.

What you control

On Edit profile, under Permissions and elsewhere, you can:

  • switch off quote cards for your own messages,
  • switch off /nowplaying for your own listening,
  • keep your friends list and your wall switched off,
  • switch yourself off the Weave leaderboards,
  • switch off Weave pings,
  • delete things you added (pictures, links, your song).

In servers

  • Sigil's admin commands only work for people with the right Discord permission in that server.
  • The bot posts what you set up and never pings @everyone.
  • Features that notice joins and leaves, invite tracking and analytics are described, with what they keep, on their own pages: Welcome and goodbye, Invites and analytics.
  • When Sigil leaves a server, the data it kept for that server is deleted.

Reporting a problem

  • Use the flag on a picture, or Report at the top of a profile, to tell the moderators about something that breaks the rules.
  • For anything private, use the contact address on the Privacy page.
  • To ask a question or suggest something, join the support server.

Keeping your account safe

Sigil signs you in with Discord and never sees your Discord password. Signing in only asks Discord who you are and which servers you are in.

Something missing or unclear? Ask in the support server.
