Scheduled posts, stickies and threads
Post a message later or on a repeat, keep a message at the bottom of a channel, and give every message its own thread.
Three small tools that keep a busy server tidy. All three are for people who manage the server.
Scheduled posts
/schedule add posts a message when you say, in your own time zone.
/schedule add text:"Game night starts in an hour!" when:friday 18:00 repeat:Every week timezone:Europe/London
When can be written in plain words: in 2h30m, tomorrow 6pm, friday 19:30, 2026-10-03 19:30, or a Discord timestamp pasted as it is.
Time zone is a name like Europe/London or America/New_York, or an offset like UTC+2. Leave it out and UTC is used. A repeating post keeps the same clock time all year, even when the clocks change.
Repeat every hour, day, week or month.
Channel is where it goes (the current one if you leave it out). Ping can name a role to mention. A scheduled post can never ping @everyone or a person.
/schedule list shows the server's scheduled posts and /schedule remove id cancels one. If Sigil is away when a post is due, it is sent late only up to six hours after it was due, and is skipped after that.
You can also manage scheduled posts on the Scheduled posts tab of the dashboard, with a date and time picker.
For a reminder just for you, use /remind instead; see Reminders.
Sticky messages
/stick message pins your message to the bottom of the channel. Whenever someone else posts, Sigil deletes the old copy and posts a fresh one below it, so your rules or announcement never get buried.
- It reposts at most once every few seconds, so a busy channel is not flooded with deletes and reposts.
- A new sticky replaces any sticky already in the channel; each channel has one.
- Mentions inside a sticky never ping anyone, even when it moves.
/unstickremoves it.
Auto-threads
/autothread mode:On makes every message posted in the channel start its own thread. It suits suggestion, showcase and question channels.
- Name the threads your own way, with
{author}where the person's name goes and{date}for the day. The default is{author}'s thread. - Archive sets how long an idle thread stays open before it tucks itself away: 1 hour, 1 day (the default), 3 days or 1 week.
- Messages from bots are not threaded.
mode:Offturns it off again.
Sigil needs the Create Public Threads and Send Messages in Threads permissions in the channel.
For a channel of pictures, media-only channels can keep it to pictures and videos with a thread under every picture.
