Weave
A daily word game. Everyone gets the same nine letters, you make one word, and your server climbs the rankings.
Weave is a daily word game. Every day, everyone in the world gets the same nine letters, and you make one word from them. It takes a minute, it is the same puzzle for everybody, and it gives your server a reason to check in every day.
How a day works
- New letters arrive every day at 00:00 UTC.
- Drag the letters into one word, using each letter once. You get one cast a day.
- Each letter is worth points, and the rarer ones are worth more. Every letter beyond the fourth adds a little. One letter is the bonus letter, always an uncommon one, and it counts triple.
- After you cast, you see the perfect word and everyone else's words, with no names. Your server only ever sees who has played and, once the day is over, the scores.
You play on the Weave page, inside Discord as an Activity when it is switched on, or in private messages with the bot.
In your server
Run /weave in a channel. Sigil posts today's game with the letters as a picture and a button that opens the game. The message updates as people play, and at midnight it becomes the final scoreboard: names, scores and your server's rank among all servers.
- Words are never shown in the channel. Only people who have cast see the perfect word and everyone's words, on the website.
- If today's game is already up,
/weaveposts it again in the channel you used it in and deletes the old message, so it is easy to find (at most once every 20 seconds). /weave post:Truejust posts the message, without opening the game.
A daily post
Admins can choose a channel with /weave channel:#a-channel. Sigil then posts the day's game there every day, at the time of day your server first played. Nothing is posted until a channel is chosen.
Daily pings
The daily message pings the people who have played Weave on your server in the last month, have not cast yet today, and whose last game was played here. Somebody who is in many servers is pinged in the one they last played in.
- The pings are real mentions in the message text, not inside the picture card, so they notify.
- They go out once a day, the first time the game is posted that day. Posting it again the same day pings nobody.
- Anybody can switch pings off for themselves on the Weave page.
- Admins can switch them off for the whole server with
/weave pings:False.
Rankings
Everybody who plays is placed on the leaderboard of every server they are in that has Sigil. /weave ranking:True shows the ranking of everyone who plays, as a picture, with where you stand:
- this week's ranking by default (so a newcomer can win it),
- or
period:This month, orperiod:All time.
Anyone can switch themselves off the leaderboards under Permissions on Edit profile. You can still play and see your own results; nobody else sees you on a leaderboard or is told you played.
For Supporter members
Four extras on the Weave page, for you rather than for a server:
- Streak freeze. Miss a day and your streak is saved the next morning if you want it to be: Weave offers a freeze for yesterday, and the days either side join up as if you had played. You get two freezes a month (they come back on the 1st). A freeze only keeps a streak alive; it adds nothing to it.
- Missed days. Under My stats you can go back and play any day from the last 60 that you missed, with that day's own letters. These count in your own record only: they never go on a server's board, in the ranking or in your streak.
- The fuller stats. Also under My stats: a calendar of the last twelve weeks, your longest streak, your best words and how your recent scores are trending.
- Private leagues. A league is a ranking for you and your friends. Make one under Global ranking, My leagues (up to three, 25 people each), share the code or the invite link, and your friends join with it. Anyone can join a league, free or not; only making one is a Supporter perk. Members see each other's names and totals for the week, the month or all time, and never any words. The owner can take someone out or delete the league; anyone can leave.
If your plan ends nothing is deleted: your leagues, your freezes and everything you played from the archive stay, and you can still look at them. You just cannot use a freeze, play a missed day or make a new league until you are a Supporter again.
In private messages
Weave also works in private messages: in your messages with the bot, in a chat between people, and in a group chat. /weave there opens the game and posts the day's message. In your messages with the bot, that message is yours: it shows your result as you play and becomes your result at midnight. The bot sends the daily reminder there, at the time you last played, as long as that was the last place you played. /weave pings:False in those messages switches it off.
On your profile
Your Games tab shows your streak, how many times you have played, your best score and where you stand this week, as long as you are on the leaderboards.
