Party games: Spy, Bomb and Keep up!
Three games to play in a channel with a few friends. Press Join, the host presses Start.
Spy, Bomb party and Keep up! all work the same way to start: someone runs the command, players press Join, and the host presses Start once there are enough people. If nobody starts a lobby it closes by itself after a few minutes. The host can press End game at any time.
Spy
/spy. Everyone gets the same secret word except one person, the impostor, who gets none.
- Players press Join. You need at least three.
- The host presses Start. Everyone gets their word by DM.
- It is one word at a time. Sigil pings whoever is up, and posting in the channel is your word.
- When everyone has gone, you vote for who you think the impostor is.
- Catch them and the game ends. Vote out the wrong person and whoever is left goes again, until the impostor is caught or only two players remain.
/spyend ends a round you are hosting, for when the card has scrolled out of sight in a busy channel.
Bomb party
/bomb [difficulty]. A chunk of letters, like ING, appears and the bomb lands on one player. They have to type a real English word containing it in the channel before the bomb goes off. Nobody can see the fuse, and it gets shorter as the game goes on.
- A tick means the word counted and the bomb moves on. A cross means try again. A repeat arrow means the word was already used this game.
- If the bomb goes off in your hands you lose a life. Everyone starts with a few.
- Every letter in the words you type is crossed off your bonus letters. Cross them all off and you win a life back.
- The last player standing wins.
| Difficulty | What it means |
|---|---|
| Easy | Only the most common chunks of letters, mostly two letters, and a long, slow fuse. |
| Normal | The default: everyday chunks and the usual fuse. |
| Hard | Any chunk enough words contain, odd ones included, and a quicker fuse. |
Choose it with the difficulty option, or the host can change it with the difficulty button in the lobby.
Keep up!
/keepup [mode]. A memory game. On your turn you are pinged and press I'm ready once you are looking at the channel. Sigil shows a string of digits for a few seconds, hides it, and you type it back exactly.
- Every turn is one digit longer than the last, going round the table.
- Regular (the default) is a chain: each turn is the same digits as the turn before with one new digit on the end, so paying attention on other people's turns helps.
- Wildcard gives every turn a brand-new random string.
- You get one try. A mistake, or running out of time, puts you out. The last player standing wins.
What you type back is deleted as soon as Sigil has checked it, so the chat stays clear and nobody can copy your answer. Sigil needs Manage Messages in the channel for that.
Before you play
Bomb and Keep up! need Sigil to see the words people type in the game channel; see Permissions. There is also a page for each game on the games hub.
