Troubleshooting
Fixes for the things people ask about most: commands that do nothing, roles that will not give, messages that do not appear.
Commands
"This server isn't set up." Someone who manages the server has to run /setup once. See Add Sigil to your server.
Slash commands do not show up when I type /. Give Discord a minute after adding the bot. Make sure Sigil was added with the applications.commands scope (the invite link does this), and that your server has not hidden the commands from you under Server Settings, Integrations. /ping is the quickest check: it answers "Pong!" if the bot is awake.
A command says I need a permission. The admin commands need the matching Discord permission for you (for example Manage Roles for /rolemenu). See Permissions.
Roles
A role is greyed out in the role menu builder or auto-roles. Hover it for the reason. Usually the role is above Sigil's own role, carries Administrator or a Manage permission, or belongs to a bot. In Server Settings, Roles, drag Sigil's role above the roles it should give.
Pressing a role button does nothing. Same cause: Sigil's role has to sit above the roles on the menu.
Messages
The welcome message is not posted. Check that a welcome channel is set (/setup channel:#a-channel), that the welcome is switched on, and that Sigil can view the channel, send messages, embed links and attach files there. The dashboard's Overview tab flags a channel Sigil cannot post in.
A scheduled post did not go out. If Sigil was away when it was due, it is sent late only up to six hours after, and skipped after that. /schedule list shows what is still waiting.
Counters and the Bulletin do not change. They update about every five to ten minutes. Sigil needs Manage Channels.
Signing in
Discord will not let me sign in. If Discord says "verify your account", verify your email in Discord, turn off any VPN (some browsers, such as Opera GX, have a built-in one), or try another browser.
My changes are not showing. Did you press Save? Then reload the page.
A picture or GIF was refused. The message says why: it may be too big, not a real picture, or a moving GIF on a free account.
